Dr. Valerie Turner
I am a physical therapist, yoga teacher, meditation practitioner, musician and writer. I graduated from Downstate Medical Center in 1991 with a BS in physical therapy, studied motor learning at Columbia University, and recently received my doctorate in physical therapy from Utica College. Basically, I am a lifelong learner, continually taking courses at the Herman & Wallace Institute, keeping up to date on evidence-based practices, and engaging in clinical dialogue with peers and mentors in many forums. I’m a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Section on Women’s Health.
My focus for the last five years has been on pelvic floor physical therapy at the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center in Clinton, New Jersey. In pelvic health I have found my niche. Here is where all my great loves have come together: yoga, mindfulness, motor learning, manual therapy, and a full representation of the biopsychosocial model of medicine. In pelvic health my holistic approach to patient-centered care has been magnified. Eastern and western thought have found their middle path. My professional passion is realized.
